Cadre magnifique, maison confortable, superbe piscine ! Nous rentrons zen et détendus.
Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour au Mas Saint-Martial. La piscine était incroyable et les propriétaires étaient des hôtes fantastiques. Ce sont probablement les vacances les plus relaxantes et inspirantes que nous ayons passées, et nous avons rencontré des personnes qui nous auront laissé une marque très positive et pour longtemps.
Nous attendions beaucoup de ces vacances et nous n'avons pas été déçus. La propriété est un véritable joyau historique dans une région chargée d'histoire. Dès notre arrivée, accueillis par un couple avec qui vous sembliez être amis depuis toujours, le stress du quotidien s'est envolé. Nous nous sommes immédiatement sentis comme chez nous et avons rapidement planifié notre prochain séjour. De l'extérieur, le gîte est digne d'une carte postale et aucun détail n'a été négligé. L'intérieur conserve son charme historique, tout en offrant toutes les commodités nécessaires pour vous éviter de vivre le style de vie médiéval de nombreux hébergements ruraux en France. Les chambres sont joliment décorées avec goût et disposent de grandes salles de bain et douches (à l'étage et au rez-de-chaussée). La piscine privée est superbe et nous en étions les seuls occupants. Ses eaux claires, sous les pins et sous un ciel bleu, étaient idylliques. Difficile de détacher ma femme du bord de la piscine. Le gîte s'intègre parfaitement dans une région d'une beauté exceptionnelle, où la plupart des sites que nous souhaitions visiter se trouvent à seulement quelques minutes. Les propriétaires étaient très accueillants et nous ont donné de bons conseils sur les lieux à visiter, sans être envahissants, ce qui nous a permis de profiter d'une intimité totale. Nous avons apprécié chaque instant de notre séjour et nous le recommandons chaudement. Si vous souhaitez visiter la région, découvrir les 1 000 châteaux et les innombrables sites préhistoriques, ou simplement vous détendre au bord de la piscine, cet endroit est fait pour vous. Fantastic stay in an amazing location. We were 6 adults and 5 children staying for 2 weeks. The weather was still mild and sunny in October and the views on the Corsican mountains and the bay of Ajaccio were stunning. The villa is spacious, very well furnished and in top shape. We used the living room fireplace (it has an extraordinary sixteenth century mantelpiece) every night, it was magical. It is a great place for families.
Nous sommes restés toute la famille 6 adultes et 2 enfants pendant 4 jours. La maison a tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour profiter de quelques jours dans le sud de la France. Les propriétaires ont toujours été très amicaux et prêts à nous aider avec tout ce dont nous avions besoin. Merci.

Notre première visite a eu lieu en 2010 pendant deux semaines en mai. Ces nouvelles vacances d'une semaine était des vacances de Noël en famille longtemps retardées. La maison est charmante, bien entretenue et confortable. L'emplacement est parfait pour se rendre à pied aux cafés et restaurants locaux, aux magasins, au magnifique marché du samedi et aux sites historiques et architecturaux de la ville. En dehors de la ville, à seulement 15 à 30 minutes en voiture, se trouvent de nombreux châteaux, jardins, musées, sites préhistoriques avec des peintures rupestres et bien plus encore. Il y a tant de choses à faire et une maison agréable où rentrer. Jackie était une hôte merveilleuse.
Domaine du Château is the most beautiful and well equipped house ever. Better in the flesh than the photographs suggest. We stayed as a group of 11 extended family members and a couple of babies. Largely because of babies and children, we wanted a place with a pool where kids could be when adults were doing other things. Domaine du Château was perfect for this. The owners, have a history of taking groups to rental houses around Europe. They took notes and used them in renovating this property, resulting in attention to detail that makes everything work for a large group. I cannot think of a single thing that was lacking in making the house work for us. There is an exceedingly well equipped cook's kitchen. Every bedroom was beautiful with en suite bathrooms. They have cribs and the ability to turn the bedrooms (or at least some of them) from queen beds to twins. The bedrooms are arranged in pairs with good separation from other pairs of bedrooms. All are well away from public rooms where there might be noise. There are even two pairs of washers and dryers, so no queue for doing laundry. There are multiple outdoor terrace areas and a stunning view from the salon terrace over the pool to the hillside village beyond. The house is about 40 minutes from Beaune in a beautiful rural area. It is a great cycling area. The Voie Verte that runs from Santenay to Nolay might be the most scenic ride in Burgjndy. Once you get on it, you are completely separate from cars and riding on the level through stunning vineyards all the way. The house is also close to the Canal du Centre which is another great biking opportunity along the old towpath. Beware that the house is uphill from both, so the return may be a bit challenging for some riders. We rented bicycles from Bourgogne Randonées in Beaune. They were delivered to the house and were in mint condition. Must not forget Stephen and Lilly, the house managers. They live in a separate area of the property. They are a delightful couple with an enviable history of adventurous living. They were completely unobtrusive, but there to meet any need we might have, including doing the shopping for us one day. On the subject of shopping, do not miss the Sunday morning market in Chagny. There are dozens of vendors with beautiful local produce, cheese and meat, as good as can be found anywhere.
We had a lovely lazy two weeks by the pool! With the hot weather the air conditioning was very welcoming at night time. We have used Pure France several times over the last 6 years and this villa has definitely been the best equipped and most accurately described. 5 / 5.
Fantastic barn conversion, amazing location and wonderful facilities including a large swimming pool. Would highly recommend. The owner was super helpful throughout. The local villages have all the shops and services needed. We loved the rolling hills for jogging.
Piglet Barn is a wonderful place to stay and Annie and John have been such perfect hosts, and gave us such a warm welcome. Vouvant is a lovely and very friendly village and an easy walk from the Barn. We enjoyed visiting the restaurants and doing the local walks and exploring the area. The weather has been perfect so we loved the superb pool. I'm sure we will be back before too long.
Ouah! Quel endroit, calme, magnifique et la piscine a été un vrai régal ! La Maison Cabanon est le lieu familial idéal. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. Merci pour tout.

We adore this house - it is our third visit this year! The atmosphere here is so conducive to being happy and relaxed. And now to expose the biggest secret of the year - Christmas at Orchard Farmhouse has been a magical experience. The Baquiés are the most agreeable hosts in the world.
C'est notre 7ème visite en Dordogne et au moins le 6ème séjour aux "Cordeliers". Merci Jackie et Geoff d'avoir acheté cette propriété et de continuer à permettre à des personnes chanceuses comme nous d'y séjourner. Nous apprécions toujours un long déjeuner au Vieux Logis à Trémolat, belle balade. Nous nous sommes arrêtés à Limeuil au confluent des rivières Vézère et Dordogne pour voir un autre joli village avec une plage de galets. Réservez une table sous les platanes du jardin, facile à réserver car le personnel de la réception parle anglais. Ces vacances, nous avons visité les jardins d'Eyrignac que nous avons découvert il y a 20 ans - ils ont beaucoup changé et restent charmant mais Marqueyssac restent toujours nos jardins préférés avec ses vues au sommet des falaises sur les châteaux de Castelnaud, Beynac et de Fayrac et la ville de La Roque Gageac. Ne manquez pas Lascaux IV, réservez en ligne - cette fois, nous l'avons fait à la dernière minute et sommes arrivés à 15h30. Visite en anglais, idéale pour tous les âges, en particulier les enfants car ils ont leur propre tablette ! Achetez votre foie gras et votre confit de canard au supermarché E Le Clerc - beaucoup moins cher et de grande qualité, plutôt que de payer des prix exorbitants à Sarlat. Une belle promenade si vous êtes intéressés par les bastides est de commencer par Belvès, qui mérite une visite pour son centre du XIe siècle et son marché couvert du XVe siècle. Puis vers Monpazier, Biron, Château de Biron et enfin Monflanquin, un endroit idéal pour déjeuner (garez-vous au sommet de la colline à côté d'Église St André). Bien sûr, Rocamadour et les grottes de Padirac sont d'autres incontournables et si vous avez envie d'une excursion plus longue, ajoutez Colonges La Rouge à l'itinéraire. Lorsque vous visitez Rocamadour, entrez par le haut, passez devant tous les parkings coûtant environ 5 euros et dirigez-vous vers le parking bien indiqué "Le Château" qui compte 500 places et est gratuit. Prenez l'ascenseur pour descendre dans la ville, achetez le billet plus cher pour aller jusqu'au bas de la ville de Rocamadour, voir les sanctuaires, les églises, monter à pied en ville. Ensuite, reprenez l'ascenseur jusqu'à la voiture et promenez-vous jusqu'aux remparts. JOURS DE MARCHÉ : Lundi : Beynac, Les Eyzies (petit sur la rivière) Mardi : Le Bugue - fortement recommandé Mercredi : Sarlat et Saint-Cyprien Jeudi : Domme et Monpazier Vendredi : La Roque-Gageac Samedi : Sarlat Dimanche : Carnac, Limeuil et Saint-Cyprien (fortement recommandé) Le mercredi soir de fin juin à mi-août, Belvès organise un marché nocturne avec des stands de nourriture qui est amusant, apportez vos propres couverts, verres et belles assiettes si vous ne voulez pas manger avec des assiettes et couverts en carton. Caviste : un excellent caviste, pas plus cher que les supermarchés avec de très bons conseils de la part d'anglophones se trouve aux Eyzies - Vin Blanc Rouge, 3 Ave de la Préhistoire.

Our family gathering of 6 adults and a toddler was thoroughly enjoyed at this lovely villa. It is very large and spacious with huge bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. It was very generously kitted out, especially the kitchen which had more than enough for our large party. The grounds were very child friendly with safely gates and mainly level surfaces. It was ideally suited to access the lovely town of Pézenas which has an abundance of individual shops and places to eat. We would highly recommend it for a large group and wouldn't hesitate to return
Our week at Maison Charvin from Arlo, the family dog. My family thinks that Maison Charvin is simply beautiful: opulently furnished, exquisitely decorated. More of a château than a maison. That said, my mummy says it’s not pretentious but cosy and homely, much appreciated on the unusually slightly chilly and windy days for part of our stay. The pool has provided instant relief for my family when the weather has been hot and sunny. My human brothers’ favourite space is the very relaxing courtyard where my mummy and I have dozed off on numerous occasions! My daddy has very much enjoyed reading many books from the vast collection. The house is deceptively large, providing ample chilling space for everyone, including me after a hot day in the sun. We enjoyed visiting Trebes (on the Canal), Carcassonne, Lagrasse and the dog-friendly beach in Narbonne. My family enjoyed the pizza which they ordered from the pizza van by the church on Thursday late afternoon. They also had baguettes and pastries (ordered in advance) from Aurelien at Vins de Dagne.
Heaven on Earth. Our two week stay at Villa Chiavari was an absolute dream; I could not be more enthusiastic in recommending this home to anyone looking to spend their vacation in a veritable paradise. We were 2 couples, 3 children and 1 grandparent and booked an 'off-season' holiday at the end of September. Not long after our arrival we realised a major perk of booking 'off season': uncrowded beaches with absolutely perfect summer weather! Villa Chiavari's spectacular ocean-view infinity pool is surrounded by lounge-chairs and palm trees and bordered by a lush garden... good luck ever tearing yourself away. I should also mention that this lavish pool area is accessible by both the main living quarters of the house and by the bedrooms, which we found extremely convenient for our kids and elderly grandparent. Pool amenities also include a shaded lounge and dining area (also with an ocean view), a barbecue, outdoor refrigerator, pool toys and floats and easy access to a downstairs kitchenette. The grounds at the front of the house include a lush garden, an elevated hammock-hideaway in a quiet shady corner and an outdoor eating area punctuated by a lovely little fountain. The bedrooms are attractively furnished, comfortable and very clean. Five out of six have full attached bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and air conditioning, as is the main area of the house. The upstairs living/dining/den areas are elegant yet cozy at the same time and the entire back 'wall' of this floor is composed of large sliding glass doors that open onto a beautiful terrace running the length of the entire villa. There is a dining area and lounge on this upper terrace as well! The kitchen has every piece of equipment you can think of and if you're looking for the ultimate in extravagance, the owners will set you up with your own chef. They arranged for us a very personable French cook who prepared truly delicious, fresh meals that even our children were not afraid to eat. Sublime. Speaking of kids, families will find this home very child-safe. There are gates on stairways, the entire property is fenced-in (artfully disguised by beautiful flowers and foliage) and there is a smattering of children's furniture (highchair etc) available for use. We were also really comforted by the fact that the owners of this home are easily reached and are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be booking again and I encourage anyone interested in perfection to do the same!
Mas du Château was simply perfect. It was spotless, comfortable, peaceful and he was a wonderful host; nothing was too much trouble. We couldn’t have asked for anything more and didn’t want to leave.
Une maison familiale qui vous enchantera pour un weekend ou plus. Un grand extérieur avec piscine et de plus, très bien agencé où tous les espaces sont merveilleusement bien pensé et décoré. Une arrivée parfaite avec des recommendations sur les visites et les choses à visiter aux alentours. Une cuisine suréquipée et tout un tas d’ustensiles bien pratiques. Le bonus, 9 vélos sont à disposition pour profiter des environs. Je recommande vivement.
This is a very peaceful and relaxing place, it was interesting watching the wine growers gathering their grape harvest, lots of beautiful scenery, places to visit and some lovely restaurants. We enjoyed cooking at the house with the very well equipped kitchen and some very nice decor touches around the house. A fantastic introduction to this part of France. We will return.
