It is early spring. My husband and I decide to go to the South of France for a fortnight. Our eye has fallen on La Picholine. It is in the Gard region and close to nice places. Like Uzès, Nîmes, Avignon. What a surprising place on arrival. Two enthusiastic owners, proudly showing off their new domaine. There are two gîtes. A large swimming pool, several terraces and expansive views. Our gîte is very comfortable. Spacious living room with dining kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped. Bedroom is very spacious with good mattresses. Large bathroom with two sinks. As it can be quite chilly in the evening in spring, this cottage has a wood-burning stove with hot air conditioning. It is comfortably warm then. The garden is tastefully decorated. You have your own privacy and that choice is nice. We had a lovely two weeks here and will definitely come back next year. Thank you Esther and Leo for your hospitality.
We have had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. We appreciate how clean it was when we arrived (thanks Yvonne) and the wine. We love the decor and period furnishings. The pool and small barn were great. It was interesting to hear about the history and previous occupants of the house from Bob and Margaret, the English neighbours across the road. Thanks. We hope to return one day.
We have all had an amazing 3 weeks stay in your beautiful house. Our grand children have all learned to swim in the pool and we have all enjoyed our days out in this lovely part of France. We can't thank you enough for giving us everything we could wish for in a holiday home - you have thought of every home comfort. We will be recommending this as the best place to stay for all.
We had a lovely stay. so tranquil, with a view of the Dordogne river. Lovely enclosed courtyard garden, ideal for al fresco dining and BBQ. We enjoyed sitting by the pool watching the birds in the trees and popping in and out of holes in the wall. Not too far from some of the hot spots such as Sarlat, Domme and La Roque-Gageac, so we could enjoy a day out but still manage to get back to the peace and quiet of Maison Bourg Calès to relax.
Lovely quiet gîtes with beautiful views over the wine fields. Close to Uzès, a very pretty historical market town (20 min. by car). The gîtes provide everything you need, i.e. comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, cosy sitting room and fully equipped kitchen. There is a swimming pool with lounge beds and our gîte (La Picholine) even had a small private pool. The area is great for walk through the woods and over the wine field. There are restaurants in the area that are a short drive away. We had a great and relaxing time and will definitely be back!
“Nice villa within easy access (20 min saunter) to the city centre. Pretty pool area and nice pool, with mature trees and bushes giving good shelter if the wind picks up. Very private with good access to sun from late-morning. Supermarkets within very easy walking distance.
Un séjour très agréable dans une maison de rêve. Calme et paisible. Nous avons adoré notre séjour dans cette belle maison. Les hôtes sont sympathiques et très accueillants. Je recommande vivement cette maison.
Exceptional. Tout! Accueil au top qu'elle gentillesse hébergement splendide, très bien placé, vacances inoubliables, tout était parfait pour nous.
Superbe demeure ayant conservé le charme d'antan. Les extérieurs sont magnifiques avec un jardin immense et des bois jouxtant celui-ci. Nous avons passé un séjour très reposant avec nos amis et enfants. La maison est très pratique et on ne se marche pas dessus ! Merci encore à Stanislas et Martha pour leur accueil.
The house is great for a large group and the surroundings are really beautiful. The fig and almond trees in the gardens were in full fruit too. The pool area would benefit from shade such as the awning in the online picture. The weather was very hot while we were there and the upstairs bedrooms were uncomfortably warm. Take not that the a/c is only in the living area.
I just wanted to say that we all found your house to be absolutely lovely. Everything we could have hoped for. So many nice touches, you clearly put a lot of thought and no doubt effort into making it a very special place. We especially loved the pool of course, which has such a great design for the little ones with the shallow section, but we loved the whole place. Everyone was very happy there. Many thanks
Merci beaucoup pour cette merveilleuse semaine dans votre maison. Nous avons apprécié le vin mousseux, les belles fleurs et la maison est tout simplement incroyable avec tout ce dont nous avions besoin. Les points forts pour nous ont été le neuf trous de golf juste à l'extérieur de Saumur, le vélo, la visite de vignobles, des repas au restaurant et la détente au bord de la piscine. Nous avons attrapé des gardons, des naseux et trois grosses brèmes. Il y avait un beau martin-pêcheur au bord du ruisseau. Temps parfait et nous avons tout apprécié d'autant plus après toutes les restrictions de ces deux dernières années.
Fabulous Villa and location We've been coming to the south of France for year and specifically to this area and to Seillans for the last 5 years... and this villa is as good as we have ever stayed. The villa is impeccably kept, extremely comfortable and has the most magnificent views. Everything in the villa is as advertised and works well. The restaurants of Seillans are a short walk away. Although the town itself unfortunately has no boulangerie or patisserie, Fayence is only a 5 minute drive away and has a great one of those, plus a boucherie / charcuterie around the corner, both of which are close to the big Super U supermarket. The terrace and pool are East-facing. We were worried that in the photos it looked like there was little shade provided but with the big awnings for the terrace and a few parasols for the pool, finding shade from the morning sun was not a problem. We love this area for the beautiful mountain villages (seillans, Callian, Tourrettes etc) but the ease of getting around in the largely flat area south of those villages so you can get to Cannes, Grasse and the beaches. Les Fumerates, c'est un chez-soi élégant et confortable dans le sud de la France. C'est un point de départ idéal pour explorer le charmant village de Saint Paul de Vence, mais la majeure partie de votre séjour ici devrait être consacrée à vous détendre au bord de la fabuleuse piscine (et chauffée !) de la villa avec un bon livre et à profiter de la vue panoramique. Fortement recommandé pour un voyage calme et relaxant avec vos proches.
Notre immense gratitude pour avoir partagé la magie ce site fantastique et un aperçu de votre quotidien. Vous êtes les hôtes les plus charmants, prévenants et généreux. Vous nous avez fait nous sentir comme à la maison dès notre arrivée et tellement confortables et bienvenus tout le ong du séjour. Merci pour cela! Le Manoir est un pur trésor et ce fut pour nous un régal d'apprendre comment vous l'avez façonné et lui avez rendu sa splendeur. Nous nous souviendrons tout particulièrement d'avoir été gâtés avec la fantastique cuisine de Bruce (asperges à la Bruce et confit de canard chaudement recommandés!) et les délicieux desserts de Steve. À grande cuisine, grande ambiance! La semaine s'est trop vite écoulée et nous commençons donc à penser au retour, on en redemande encore! Un grand merci.

À la fin de longues vacances bien remplies un peu partout en France, la propriété a été un bel endroit où se détendre. Les jardins et la piscine sont parfaits, les propriétaires étaient sympathiques et serviables. Maison très propre, bien agencée, confortable. Assez proche pour aller où l'on voulait le long de la Côte d'Azur, mais paisible quand on voulait se ressourcer. Une semaine n'a pas suffit. Je reviendrai certainement ici si nous voyageons à nouveau en France.
Une base idéale pour des vacances en famille avec six petits-enfants.
We are a family of two adults and three teens and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Le Somail! The house was very well equipped with everything we needed and there was plenty of space inside and out. The pool area is very sheltered and private - having the pool to cool us down on the hottest of days was certainly appreciated! We enjoyed being so close to the canal and seeing the boats sailing past, it’s a beautiful location. There is a good selection of places to eat and drink within a few minutes walk of the house, yet the house was very peaceful and we were never disturbed by any noise from the restaurant next door. There were plenty of activities within an easy driving distance to keep us all amused for the duration of our stay including lakes, beaches and shopping. We hope we can return again, thank you for a wonderful holiday.
You have created a fantastic holiday home which we have enjoyed staying in very much. Thank you for your warm welcome, generous hospitality and advice about what to visit / where to eat in the Minervois region; it has been greatly appreciated. We wish you all the very best for your exciting future plans and hope to be back in the next few years. Thank you for letting me play with your lovely dogs, Mack and Mabel. Nous rentrons juste de 2 semaines de vacances parfaites à La Cigalière, à Servian. Une maison vraiment charmante, une piscine parfaite, nous aimerions revenir de suite.
